Jordan Smith's Fight at Washington D.C.

Battle of Legends Tournament hosted by Mario Yamasaki took place in Washington D.C. this weekend.  There were many great fights including the co-main event with One Hit's own Jordan "Mata Ele" Smith vs. Gustavo "Ximu" Machado.  The Main Event was Legend Pedro "The Rock" Rizzo vs. Gary "Big Daddy" Goodridge.  Also Present was Jordan's Black House Team mates: Jose Aldo (WEC Featherweight Champion) and Pedro Rizzo.  Also present was.  UFC Fighter's Kenny Florian and Demian Maia and Coaches Marcos Ruas, Claudio Coelho Nobre Arte and Manager Jorge Guimaraes. 

Jordan won by a Big Unanimous decision, by dominating the Brazilian Black Belt 3 rounds.  He also won Fight of the Night.  A Big Congratulations to Jordan for his win and representing his Coaches and Team and Utah Fighter's Well.

Jordan's Next Fight is June 5th at the Rail Event Center in Salt Lake City, UT for the WCFC.

UFC Coming to Utah!

UFC coming to Utah

If someone would have told you five years ago that the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) will be holding an event in Salt Lake City before New York City, your first response would have most likely been something along the lines of 'child, please.'

Well my friends, the "Big Apple's" chances of beating out the "City of Saints" in hosting a UFC fight card looks 'bout ready to 'kiss the baby.'

The Salt Lake Tribune is reporting that according to Bill Colbert, the director of the Pete Sauzo Utah Athletic Commission (PSUAC), the UFC has officially requested to hold a Sunday night event at EnergySolutions Arena on August 1 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Colbert also stated that the event will air for free, live on Versus, making it the second UFC event to air on the cable network.

I have always wanted to train MMA, but it is a rather expensive sport in Brazil.  So when I moved to the U.S., I had the opportunity to start training and I discovered a new passion. I started training MMA as a way to let the stress out and also people would always tell me they saw a hidden talent in me.  I have been training Capoeira, a Brazilian martial art, for over 10 years now. I was also involved in boxing and soccer in Brazil.

I train MMA at One Hit MMA with Prof. Aldo Oreggia and Prof. Gustavo Rodrigues in Clearfield, Utah and Capoeira with Mestrando Jamaika at Volta Miúda in Salt Lake City, Utah. I am an aggressive fighter, always going forward and always trying to give my best inside the cage.  I represent my family and my team and always try to put out an excellent show for everybody. I know Travis is a good wrestler and an overall fighter. But I also know that my heart and my style separate me from the other fighters. I plan to keep fighting locally and ultimately my goal is have something even greater happen to me, such as an opportunity to participate in the WEC, etc…

I would like to thank my coaches Aldo Oreggia and Gustavo Rodrigues, who have given their heart to train me and my teammates, and for immensely contributing to the MMA world. Also, thank you Mestrando Jamaika for giving his best to train me as a Capoeira fighter, and for teaching me valuable lessons on life, discipline and hard work.   I would also like to thank my teammates Osman, Jeremiah, Jordan Smith, little Jordan, Jimmy, Justin and Mike Arant. Thank you all, I love you guys.

In 2007, Jordan attended an amateur MMA event with his brother and some friends in St. Louis. He immediately determined that MMA would be his new sport. He found a place to train, "The Fight Factory" in Edwardsville, Illinois, headed by Boyd Ballard. Within a few months Boyd determined that Jordan was ready to start his career and they scheduled a fight. Jordan's first scheduled opponent pulled a no show, but on June 15, 2007 Jordan stepped into the cage for the first time. Alex May was the opponent and after just 19 seconds Alex was out by TKO. Jordan went on to win 4 more amateur fights in 5 months, culminating with a 4 fighter tournament win to take home the Michigan Fight League LHW belt.

In the fall of 2007, Jordan took a job teaching 7th Grade Science in northern Utah, where he began training under Aldo Oreggia, Gustavo Rodrigues, and others at One Hit MMA. He took the step from Amateur to Professional and quickly became the top LHW in Utah after 9 straight victories (see his record for fight details at http://www.jordansmithmma.com ). Jordan developed a habit of ending fights in the first round. He ended all but three of his pro fights in the 1st round. Two of the other three opponents made it to the second round.

On June 28th 2008 Jordan fought veteran pro Rich Guerin and won his first pro Champion Belt by rear-naked chock hold at 4:16 into the first round. Then on June 6th 2009, At the top of his career in Utah (The reigning Throwdown Elite LHW Champion) Jordan fought Richard Hale to a draw after 5 pounding rounds. Jordan dropped weight classes to Middleweight (185lbs) and fought IFL veteran Bristol Marunde. Jordan submitted Bristol in the first round and is now looking to move up the ladder into the world of the UFC.

Jordan has since began a professional relationship with Black House MMA, training with great fighters, most recently with Jose Aldo.  Black House MMA has fighters such as Anderson Silva, Lyoto Machida, Jose Aldo, Paulo Filho, Minotauro Nogeira.

Professor Aldo Oreggia is a 3 degree black belt in Kickboxing, black belt in Kyokushin Karate. He has studied
Kyokushin with the Francisco Feitosa since 1987 Sao Paulo, Brazil. 


Throughout his competitive
Kickboxing career Aldo has earned many of the most prestigious titles the sport
has to offer including being 2-times Brazilian National ISKA Champion among many other titles.

Utah is so lucky to have a striking coach so talented and ready to teach.  Aldo has trained many local fighters including Professionals to Title Holder status in the State.
